Mark started his work in architecture with Sir Miles Warren, New Zealand’s most prominent architect, learning the attention to detail so highly praised in the firm’s work. These formative years have remained as the basis for his design approach, where even the smallest component becomes part of the whole.

On moving to London, he worked with fellow architects at Arup Associates where the resolution of architecture, structure and building services was at the forefront of contemporary design integration.

Working with Wilkinson Eyre when they were just a small office of 6 people, Mark was a part of the team establishing itself in the heart of London. Gaining an understanding of the flexibility and agility required for a small office to achieve significant design outcomes in a competitive market, he returned to Sydney and formed a partnership with Paul Rudolph that lead to the founding of ARC architects.

Mark maintains a key role in client liaison leading to a collaborative design approach extracting the optimal outcomes in project design and construction.

His work ranges from finely detailed houses around Sydney Harbour and along the coastline, to high density residential developments such as the award-winning Metro project, and Industri in Waterloo

“The development of my architectural approach and my approach to life generally, has been a transition from a grab it with both hands and see what happens, evolving into a more refined investigation of opportunities. Any one project may spark the most creative of ideas.”
